Poets Share Their Voices

6th Grade Students submitted poems to the Beautiful Truth Poetry Competition.

Poets Share Their Voices

What happens when young voices are given the space to express their truths? In Stephanie Kinkel’s 6th-grade Humanities Quest, What is the Power of Our Voices?, students have been exploring poetry as a tool for self-expression, advocacy, and connection.

Building on their work in spoken word and written poetry, our students took their talents beyond the classroom, submitting original pieces to the Beautiful Truth Poetry Contest—a competition that invites young poets to share their unique perspectives and experiences through verse.

Each poem is a reflection of the student’s inner world—tackling themes of identity, resilience, justice, and hope. Whether weaving together powerful imagery or using rhythmic wordplay to evoke emotion, these young writers have embraced poetry as a medium to tell their stories and speak their truths.
